THINGS TO DO! Weekend of August 3-5, 2018

It’s the first weekend of August. School is just getting closer and closer! This year I was elected to our PTO as president. It’s equally scary and exciting.  As I start working on things, I realize how quickly school will be here.  I feel like we never had a summer – between camp, work, getting sick and this awful non-stop rainy humid weather.  (Don’t get me wrong, I know rain is good, but it’s just a bit much lately!) I’m trying to figure out how we can get all my summer plans crammed into three short weeks. I may have to accept defeat and just do what I can.

And this weekend, it looks like rain again. I’m seeing a trend. Will it rain though? Who knows but I’m sure to bet it will be humid. Some people have no issue with that – I, on the other hand, melt.  If you like being outside, you’ll find plenty to do this weekend. If you like being inside, you’ll also find plenty to do this weekend!

The first weekend of any month is always great because you can do the Home Depot Kids’ Workshop, or you can enjoy free admission to the Connecticut Historical Society.  There’s also a sensory friendly play time every first Sunday of the month at Chuck E. Cheese in Manchester.

The Yard Goats are back for three games this weekend – and on Saturday, they will be celebrating all things Hogwarts.

There are also festivals and carnivals all over- including a food truck fest in Glastonbury, the Italian Festival in Enfield, the Puerto Rican Festival in Meriden, Taste of the Caribbean in Hartford, a Blues Fest in Stafford, a family carnival with fireworks in Suffield and many more. I’ll also be releasing our 2018 Carnival Guide in the coming weeks! Carnival season is slowly starting up but you find a lot more in late August and September!

Despite this weather, it’ll be a great weekend! Enjoy!
