‘Tis the season for cupcakes, cookies and all things sweet.
If you have been put in charge of desserts for your holiday dinner, and you don’t have time to bake (or you just don’t want to), then I have the place for you!
I discovered Pete’s Sweets about two years ago. Pete’s has been in operation for 7 years, and I really regret that I only just discovered him.
Pete’s Sweets is located in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, just over the Connecticut border. I stumbled upon the shop one day after nearly having a heart attack in the death trap loosely referred to as the East Longeamdow “rotary”. Seriously, if you are familiar with the area, you know what I mean. I am not exaggerating at all.
I love Pete’s Sweets so much, though, that I take the risk in that rotary.
Inside Pete’s Sweets, you’ll discover a warm and inviting bakery. The bakery recently underwent a remodel in the fall and it’s absolutely beautiful!
Pete’s Sweets houses the creative mind of Peter Gray. Peter is not just a baker, he is a true artist. Every single item you find in that bakery is made with an artistic touch that I have honestly never witnessed in real life. You feel like you are looking in a Martha Stewart magazine when you peek into the cupcake case or pick out a frosted cookie. Peter actually competed on a Food Network show, the Christmas Cookie Challenge, two years ago and was also on The Next Great Baker. We are honestly really lucky to have someone with this much talent set up in our neighborhood. Just look at this cake he made for Bright Nights!
I would almost go as far to say his work is too beautiful to eat; but once you take your first bite, you let go of that hangup. If you think things look amazing, wait until you taste it. I actually asked my husband if we could get remarried, just so I could get a new wedding cake from Pete’s. Apparently that was a crazy idea… so instead I just indulge in cupcakes whenever I feel like it.
Speaking of which, look at these beautiful cupcakes that you could bring to Christmas dinner this year!
Pete’s Sweets sells cookies, decorated sugar cookies, brownies, bars, cakes, pies and lots of other homemade desserts and sweets available in the shop for purchase. You can also custom order cakes, custom decorated cookies, and many more things.
Pete’s Sweets is well known for their specialty classes including cookie decorating, baking classes, and even gingerbread house decorating. In addition, they also host some amazing events including Cookies and Milk with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the beginning of December. We visited during this year’s event and had a fantastic time!
Of course, since I was there, I had to pick up a cupcake, or five; and some cookies, and a chocolate lollipop…
This weekend, before you go crazy baking for the holidays (like I did), just get in the car, drive through the East Longmeadow death trap, I mean rotary, and head into Pete’s Sweets. Get a dozen cupcakes, and an extra one for the car ride home. Grab some iced sugar cookies while you’re at it. And a chocolate dipped pretzel. Some chocolate chip cookies too…
Oh and if you are curious, my favorite thing there: the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcake. Yum!!
This about sums it up…
