Chocolate is definitely my weakness. And candy shops are just the death of me.
So anytime we are in the Deerfield area, there is no questioning it, I have to stop at Richardson’s Candy Kitchen. They are open daily, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., so I usually can always count on stopping by when I am up this way!
Richardson’s Candy Kitchen is located on Route 10, just down the road from Yankee Candle and Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory & Gardens.
(Google Maps)
It’s a small little place, with parking right in the half-circle driveway.
But don’t let the size fool you because the inside of Richardson’s Candy Kitchen is stocked full of chocolate and sweet goodness!
They have phenomenal chocolate including truffles, cream filled, cordials, caramels, nuts, bark, fudge, solid and much more. They have dark, milk and white chocolate. They sell the chocolate by the pound, so you can make your own boxes up; or you can buy a pre-made box. We love filling our own box – so I can get as many orange and raspberry creams as possible!
They also have sweet treats like fruit slices, licorice, jellybeans, lollipops, to name a few. These come in a pre-filled bags and boxes. There are also gift boxes and holiday themed confections. Since we visited just after Easter, they actually did not have many holiday items (save for a few Easter items on clearance!
Richardson’s Candy Kitchen make their chocolates on premises, using the founder’s original recipe. If you time it just right, you may even get to see them at work in the kitchen!
I have a pretty selective list of favorite candy shops in Massachusetts and Connecticut; and Richardson’s Candy Kitchen is actually in my top three. So, that goes to say something. It’s probably a good thing that I live almost an hour away and that trips here are reserved for special occasions (like a random Thursday in April). Of course, I could always have their candy shipped directly to me.
If you have a sweet tooth, and you are in the Deerfield area visiting Yankee Candle or Magic Wings, then you will definitely want to swing by Richardson’s Candy Kitchen.
And if you do, grab me a box of milk chocolate orange creams, okay?
