Strawberry season is finally in full swing here in Connecticut!
One of my favorite things is pick-your-own. Whether it’s strawberries, blueberries or apples, there is something so special about plucking a ripe fruit straight from the vine (or bush or tree)!
Like last summer, this year’s picking is a little different. While the fruit is the same, the rules have changed. Social distancing is a MUST in the fields. Each farm has their own set of rules and it is important to check those out on their Facebook page or their website. Some farms are requiring RESERVATIONS. I am also noticing that because the crowd sizes are limited, but everyone is stir-crazy and getting out of the house to pick your own, many places are picking out early in the day, especially on weekends. Strawberry picking can still be a fun family tradition this year but please make sure you read up on their rules before heading out so you avoid any confusion or disappointment.
I’ve compiled a list of pick-your-own strawberry fields around Connecticut (and a few over the border in western Massachusetts). If you know of a great pick-your-own strawberry field that is open, please let me know and I’ll be happy to add it!
