For the next week, until December 4, 2016, the Enfield Food Shelf and the Woman’s Club of Enfield is hosting a “Tree”mendous Holiday Celebration at the Enfield Square Mall. The event is held on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. They have set up an entire store with beautifully decorated trees donated by a number of local sponsors. You are welcome to view the Christmas trees for free, or if you are feeling lucky, you can enter the raffle to win the tree, along with the trimmings, decorations AND the gifts on and under them!
They are set up between Sears and Center Court (where you’ll find Santa). In fact, if you know the mall layout, they are right across from the Bottom Line. When you walk in, you’ll notice the trees right away, as well as a red carpet.
They have a table set up right as you enter where you can do a number of things:
- Win a Christmas tree! The tickets are $10 for 20 raffle tickets.
- Vote for your favorite trees (most beautiful and most creative)
- Enter the 50/50 raffle for $5 per ticket
- Decorate a Christmas ornament with your child ($1 for each wooden ornament, that they can color at the kid’s table)
The ladies were super friendly and very happy to explain how everything works. At first, I was planning to just view the trees and then go back to enter the raffles. But with my 2 year old in tow (and the husband), I knew the ornament and coloring would only keep him occupied for so long so I bought my raffle tickets right away!
There were a lot of trees! I didn’t count but there had to be over 30 decorated trees and wreaths!
These trees are not just decorated with pretty bows, ribbon and ornaments. You’ll find that each has a specific theme and they are decorated accordingly. Like the money tree, which had clear ornaments filled with $100 in cash. The lottery tree was decorated with $100 worth of scratch tickets. One tree was decorated with a $300 piece of jewelry! Some had gift certificates, others had actual items like kitchen accessories. So if you win that tree, you win those items!
If you decide to enter the tree raffles, the tickets are $10 for 20 entries. You can enter for the same tree 20 times, or you can enter to win 20 different trees. They will be drawing names on December 4, and notifying winners on December 5. Trees have to be picked up on December 7 between 3 and 7 p.m.
Each tree has a small bucket in front of it, where you drop off your ticket.
My personal favorite was this one, donated by Enfield Square Mall.
It was very generously decorated too! Wouldn’t that be amazing to win!
They also have a special area set up for the kids to color and decorate ornaments! The ornaments are only $1, and they had many options. We chose the penguin! He had a great time coloring it, and the table…
This is a super fun event, and worth the time to walk through and look at the beautiful trees. The raffle supports a great cause, so if you decide to try your luck, you can know that your $10 is going to some great charities! Since it is only for a limited time, make sure you find time this weekend or next weekend to check it out and enter to win a tree!
